How to Find Tokens: Trending, New Pairs, Wallet Tracking, and X

± 5 min read 6 sections

Chapter 2 taught you how to check a token. The next question: where do you find the token in the first place? This lesson sums up four sources of ideas that have come up in this course: Trending, new pairs, tracking, and X/KOLs.
One rule applies to all of them: finding a token is only an idea, not yet a reason to buy. Every token still goes through the Chapter 2 checks and the lesson 2.14 checklist.

Section 1 / 6
  • In GMGN's Trending tab, the 1m filter shows tokens with heavy in the last 1 minute. How to use it is in lesson 3.7.
  • Heavy volume only means "it's busy", not that the is low. Volume can be faked (fake volume / ), so check vs and the chart shape (lessons 2.10, 2.12).
  • Don't buy just because a token is at the top.
Section 2 / 6

2. New Pairs (Newly Launched Tokens)

  • New tokens show up all the time (lesson 1.1). The upside: still early, with a small MC. The risk: the most traps.
  • In the author's experience (opinion, lesson 2.4), most tokens end in a rug, so you play the momentum, not a long hold.
  • In the first few minutes, some numbers aren't stable yet: the 1:10,000 Total Fee guide sometimes doesn't apply yet (lesson 2.10), and the number can change fast (lesson 2.7).
  • Checking NoMint and No is still a must from the start (lessons 2.1, 2.2). For pump.fun tokens, the Burnt number only matters after bonding (lesson 2.3).
  • Want to play tokens that haven't bonded yet? How to enter at is in lesson 3.6.
Section 3 / 6

3. Wallet Tracking

  • A notification from a wallet you track is an idea, not a buy signal (lesson 3.2).
  • Find your own wallets through tokens that "woke up", then check the wallet page before following (lesson 3.5).
  • You can combine them: a token shows up on Trending 1m and a wallet you track buys it too = an extra reason to take a look (lesson 3.7).
  • On GMGN, the Monitor > Smart menu shows how many wallets labeled (by GMGN) have bought a token, for example "41 Smart Bought" (lesson 2.13). That label is no guarantee, they can sell first too.
Section 4 / 6

4. X and KOLs

  • Lots of CAs go around on X and in groups, as or from KOLs (lesson 1.7).
  • If you use Frontrun (lesson 1.5), there's a History feature (CAs an account has tweeted, including deleted ones) and Smart Followers to help with research on X.
  • Be careful:
    • wallets can get free tokens through transfers, which then get used for "KOL X is in" promotion (lesson 2.13).
    • A coin's name and logo can be copied, the CA can't. Always check the CA (lesson 1.7).
    • "Guaranteed 100x" posts are a sign of a shill, not analysis (lessons 1.7, 2.12).
Section 5 / 6

After You Find a Token

  1. Does it fit your playstyle? MC range, meme or tech (lesson 3.1). Doesn't fit = pass.
  2. Run the lesson 2.14 checklist. Anything red in contract safety = high risk, usually skip.
  3. Set your position size (lesson 3.10), target, and level (lesson 3.9) before you click Buy.
  4. Log the source in your journal (lesson 3.4: reason for and where you found this token). Over time you'll see which source suits you best.
Summary

Summary

Summary
  • Four sources of ideas: Trending, new pairs, wallet tracking, and X/KOLs. They're all just ideas, not yet reasons to buy.
  • Every source has its traps: volume can be fake, many new pairs rug, tracked wallets can sell first, and KOLs can get free tokens.
  • After finding a token: match it to your playstyle, run the lesson 2.14 checklist, then set your position size, TP, and cut loss before entry.
Section 6 / 6

Common mistakes

  • Buying because a token is at the top of Trending or was just shilled by a KOL, without the Chapter 2 checks.
  • Thinking a Smart Money or KOL label = a guarantee of low risk.
  • Jumping between every source at once until you forget your own playstyle.

The more idea sources you have, the easier it is to . Remember, what we're after is the smallest possible risk, not following every busy token out of greed.
