Burnt (LP Burnt)

± 3 min read 5 sections 2 images

The classic : the pulls the out of the pool and the price goes straight to zero. Check Burnt to avoid it.

Section 1 / 5

What is LP Burnt?

A Liquidity Pool (LP) is a pool of token + SOL where people buy and sell. Burnt means the proof of LP ownership has been burned, so the liquidity can't be pulled. GMGN shows it as a percentage, ideally 100%.
pump.fun tokens that have bonded (moved to PumpSwap) get their LP burned automatically. According to the official pump.fun documentation, the PumpSwap pool's LP tokens are burned right at migration, so the liquidity can't be pulled manually (checked Oct 18, 2026). Tokens from anywhere else must be checked.

  • Still on the ? There's no LP pool yet, so there's nothing to burn. The funds sit in the pump.fun bonding curve, not in a pool the dev can pull from. The Burnt number only matters after it .
  • The label can differ: on some tokens, the GMGN metrics card shows Total LP instead of Burnt. Hover over the label to read its description. If the icon is red, treat it like a low Burnt: be careful and check further.

How to check

  1. On GMGN, look at the Burnt number on the token's metrics card.
Red box: Burnt 100% (example token FTR), the LP has been burned so the liquidity can't be pulled. GMGN screenshot (Oct 2026). Token is only an example, not a recommendation.

  2. Hover over Burnt to see its description.
① Burnt 100% on the panel, ② hover over it and the description "100% liquidity Burnt" appears. GMGN screenshot (Oct 2026). Token is only an example, not a recommendation.

Section 3 / 5

Burnt vs Locked

  • Burnt: can never be pulled.
  • Locked: locked until a certain date, and can be pulled after that. Check when it expires.
Section 4 / 5

Case Study: Liquidity Pulled (CIF)

  • Catwifhat (CIF), G3vWvAaXPHCnncnyAbq6yBRXqfRtEV3h7vExzasZeT6g. On Dec 24, 2023, a team member who was the largest liquidity provider (about 92% of the pool) allegedly pulled their liquidity in two transactions, about 2500 SOL in total (1630 + 869 SOL). The price fell about 76%.
  • The lesson: if the LP isn't burned and one party controls it, a single transaction is enough to crash the price.
  • Source: Cointelegraph.
IllustrationLP not burned, controlled by one partyMade-up data, the pattern follows the lesson

LP Burnt is 0% and most of the pool belongs to one party. Guess when the liquidity gets pulled: drag the marker or tap the chart in the gray area, then lock in your guess.

Red flags

  • Low/0% Burnt, or a lock that's about to expire.
Summary

Summary

Summary
  • Burnt = the proof of LP ownership has been burned, so the liquidity can't be pulled. Ideally 100%.
  • pump.fun tokens: still on the bonding curve = no LP yet; bonded = LP burned automatically. Tokens from anywhere else must be checked.
  • Burnt is permanent, while Locked is only locked until a certain date. Check when the lock expires, then move on to checking who holds the .
Section 5 / 5

Common mistakes

  • Thinking Burnt refers to burned token supply. What's burned is the proof of LP ownership.
  • Thinking 100% Burnt means the risk is gone. The dev and big holders can still dump the tokens they hold.
  • Forgetting to hover when the metrics card shows Total LP instead of Burnt.

Liquidity that can still be pulled is a risk you don't need to take. In the market, chase the smallest possible risk, not greed.
